I was getting nasty letters from my county threatening a $500 fine (as my neighbors were complaining). This thing is GREAT. I would have given it 5 stars, but within a week I have a small crack in the screen. It still works just fine (nothing some shipping tape won’t fix).
Recommended use: #1 Take the shock prongs off with the included tool and throw them away. Electric shock is unnecessary unless you have a very stubborn dog. #2 We use the beep function on level 2 sensitivity in our house. #3 If we go outside and will be exposed to other dogs I switch it to the vibrate function (one simple button press). The Vibration function is VERY effective. It freaks him out and he does NOT like it. In the presence of other dogs, he used to bark incessantly and sound like a vicious animal, which he is not. That behavior is almost gone in one week.
I recommend that you don’t use the beep and vibration simultaneously because they don’t work simultaneously. It will beep for 3 seconds and then start vibrating, long after the initial bark. If they worked at the same time, it would be a better “cause and effect” scenario for the dog to understand. If you use all three, including the shock function, the shock function probably happens long after the initial bark and that is not good for them to understand why this is happening. I have never used the shock function because the vibration is more than enough to get their attention. Just choose one function. The beep function may be enough for your dog.
I don’t let him sleep with it (as stated in the instructions) and charge it nightly. It appears to last at least a week or so. I don’t think I will need to use it for more than a month. My 1-year-old dog is learning QUICKLY. I do recommend you also use positive reinforcement as well. When it goes off and he stops barking, I say “Good boy” and he gets a treat, if I have some on me. I highly recommend it for the price!

I moved into an apt after living in a house for 10 years. My dogs rarely had to control their barking in a house but obviously not the case in an apartment building. Not even a week into living here, I received a complaint from my new neighbors which had been passed onto me by the building manager about my barking dog 😬. I had ALWAYS been one to spout off about how cruel shock collars are and how I would never have one, however, I could not afford to get kicked out of my apartment with my two little kids so I started looking for a humane, fast and reasonable solution. I found these collars which offer a warning tone, vibration and if needed a quick little shock. I bought 2, one for my German Shepherd Dog and a second for my Chihuahua Mix (about 12 pounds). I set my Chihuahua’s collar on warning tone and vibrate only, no shock. I set my Shepherd’s on all 3, warning tone, then vibrate and then shock if needed. I put the collars on them for the first time on a Saturday and left for about 6 hours…when I came back, NEITHER of my dogs made a peep, 😯 seriously, not even a whimper. They were both in good spirits and excited to see me (as usual, lol). I took the collars off immediately and found no red marks or marks of any kind on either of them. The collars had worked and there was no physical harm done. We went for a walk and they remained quiet even without the collars on.
I have only seen my Shepherd get shocked 2 times because she didn’t heed the warning tone & vibrate, but, in her defense (I should have taken the collars off before our walk, I was in a hurry and forgot) and we were outside on a walk with my two children, her sheep, (you know because GSD’s are a herding breed 😉) and there was another dog who was riled up and getting close to her sheep and she did not like that. So she barked, and barked and got shocked, she was apparently surprised by this shock because she jumped, maybe she was thinking it was the other dogs fault? that she got shocked and barked again 2 times and got shocked again. After her two shocks, she realized why she got shocked, regained her composure and behaved like a good calm girl.
My Chihuahua mix has not needed the shock setting yet, the warning tone and vibrate have been enough to control his barking.
I put the collars on them when I leave the apartment and take them off when I’m home. They see me take them off, they know they’re off, and they still control their barking now on a regular basis. The battery lasts for seemingly ever and it charges quickly when you do need to charge it. I would definitely recommend this bark collar.

My gorgeous dogs have always been very reactive to anyone near our house. The beep & vibration setting has proven successful in stopping barking & instead guides the dogs to absorbing & observing the situation. I have no desire to use the shock feature, however I believe we are entitled to assess our dogs behaviour & act accordingly. The delivery of this product was incredibly quick & well packaged. I have an 85lb pitbull who barks quite a bit & it is a very LOUD bark. We live off of a main street & there is a lot of foot traffic. I have tried other ways to train him to bark less or stop barking when I tell him to stop…he does not. When I first tried this bark collar, I put it on the lowest setting of vibration for his weight group & WOW. The vibration scared him ALOT & he acted very differently. He wouldn’t come in the living room at all & even stayed outside for several hours too scared to come in. I had to get a leash on him to make him come inside. I let him be bark collar free until he returned to his normal self. I decided to just try the beep setting since he’s such a sensitive bubba. The beep works great! He doesn’t get scared from the beep & acts just fine, but barks less – yay! Since there is no remote this is truly automatic which is fine with me.

Purchased this for my 5.4 lb Yorkie because I go said it works for 5 lbs and up. It’s pretty heavy for a small dog but I got it adjusted to fit her. I do not use the shock feature but use the vibrate and sound. She is responding well. She would constantly bark at anything that makes noise. Husband started the ride on lawn mower and she barked once and stopped. Normally she will bark uncontrollably and chase the mower. With the collar on she just stood still and watched him mow. She seems very subdued now. I hope it continues to work but the device seems to turn itself off after a few minutes. Not sure why.
