Had a Netgear Nighthawk R6700 Before, for a couple years… bought for the Parental Control features and Range it promised. The “Disnep My Cirle” Parental Controls that is comes bundled with was Managed by the My Circle Servers so the overall internet speed was severely affected… like 50% less (tested) speeds. Then you have to pay for the better features of the My Circle App. The range also was horrible… had to depend on an Apple AirPort express AP Set up on the Upper Floor to provide wifi to most of my house… only the room next door to the router got a decent speed…
So far with the ASUS AX3000 I have had no speed reduction with parental controls on and it’s all Free with more advanced features and security options. Few, but a bit of adult contend have been seen to slip throught the security settings on the Teen Profile but more or less it’s blocking all Adult Websites I tested… also there is a scheduling option that turns off Internet Access at a certain time (another paid feature on My Circle).
The interface is graphically pleasing and Rather Futuristic looking… I give it a 5/5 !
Some features I missed was with My Circle: I was notified every time a new device Joined my wifi network, also was notified each time the internet went down… take note ASUS !
The wireless range is much better as it’s supposed to cover 3000 sq.ft. (Netgear 1,500 sq ft.)
I generally am quite Satisfied with this Upgrade… it’s well worth it !

Replaced an older ASUS which was dropping connections and lagging often. My laptop was right below it and it still would drop. So far so good with the AX3000. No drops and strong signal. Also good to get WiFi6 and better network Administration. One point worth a mention is that to use their extra AiProtection offering including malicious site blocking and a couple other advanced options you must agree to share your data with TrendMicro. Really not necessary as it has enough built-in safeguards that unless you’re doing something beyond ‘typical’ home use, streaming etc. you shouldn’t need the extra AiProtection.

Setup was simple using the Asus app. Works flawlessly with other routers.

This an affordable router with WireGuard VPN support. Stock firmware can be tuned to effectively support a minimum of 12 clients simultaneously on a connection limited to 300mbps. The lifetime AI protection adds a necessary layer of protection not included with popular brands I have previously used. Especially given the rise and prevalence of cyber intrusion today. An explicit Kill switch option is the one thing firmware lacks. However an active VPN connection has automatically reconnected after numerous reboots.

Me gusta mucho como se administra y el montón de opciones que siempre incluye Asus, lo único que me decepciono fue el alcance ya que otro modelo antiguo de Asus llegaba a toda la casa sin problemas y este no llega a todos los rincones.

With all due respect to “Knowledge Sharing Tech” and other reviewers, I have found completely different results comparing the mid-range Asus AX-3000 router to the TP-Link AX-3000 (AX-55) router. I have 40 years’ experience in communications network design. The only correct items I found were that the Asus had a slightly greater range (based on measured signal strength) and has free options.
I had to replace a good LinkSys router when it failed from suspected lightning discharge. I read the reviews and watched the video comparisons most recommending the Asus. I bought both and here are the results. Both were tested with the same ISP modem in the early morning hours connecting to the same network server on multiple PC’s freshly booted with only the same browser and running the Ookla test twice. I had the ISP’s tech support over twice because the Asus was so poor and I wanted to test the output of the ISP’s modem which was a steady 388 Mbps. The ASUS was running the latest firmware throughout.
Older PC: Asus – 25 Mbps Older PC: TP-Link – 47.5 Mbps (old firmware)
New purpose built WiFi-6 PC: Asus – 96 Mbps New PC: TP-Link – 128 Mbps (old firmware)
New PC: TP-Link – 371 Mbps (new firmware)
Android Phone: Asus – 27 Mbps Android Phone: TP-Link – 46 Mbps
Perhaps the free security options for the Asus makes it attractive but I have my own anti-virus and VPN so the free options don’t matter to me. The TP-Link was easier to set up but not a big deal for me.
The bottom line is that if you feel that the performance from either one is not what was expected, try the other. Your mileage may vary.

Bought this to connected to my primary router to extend coverage throughout the house. When initially setup as an AiMesh node (with ethernet backhaul), my speeds capped out at around 300Mbits and I was having weird delays on some of my smart home devices. I changed the router to just function as an access point and then I was getting the full speed I’d expect and no more weird delays.
So as a secondary router to extend coverage it works fine, but if you have an ethernet connection to your primary router, don’t bother with AiMesh and just run it as an access point.

Very good directions for hooking everything up. Had it set up and working on now time it all. Internet is working faster than ever. Likes thatvI can use the 2G or 5G and separate passwords for each.
