Short and sweet:
I gained a bit of weight recently and have a bit of a muffin top going. I normally wear between a 32 and 34 waste, but many products have too low of a rise and it accentuates my flaws. I ordered these in a 36 waist and the rise is excellent and comfortable with the muffin top. For the price I think these are excellent and I have purchased them several times in the past.
Buyer beware of one thing – there are two little stickers on the washing and drying care tags. Obviously you don’t want to wash these stickers or have them melting in your dryer. I’ve attached the photo to hopefully show everyone where to look.
I think these are better quality than shorts I’ve paid twice the price for in a similar style from other retailers.
I recommend and will buy again.

I usually get my Cargos at walmart..the material is much thinner but they only have a few colors so I decided to try amazons cargo shorts this time. Plus their return system is easy and great so I had nothing to loose Wow they are really good quality..well worth the money…thicker than Im use to but loving them just the same and so glad I made the good choice! And very comfortable well made not cheaply made but good material. Will prob buy couple more soon too..If your into Cargo Shorts..which I love and wear EVERYDAY.. youll be glad you got them from Amazon too.. They arent expensive and they are very comfortable. 100% cotton cargo shorts without an elastic waist – what’s not to love. They fit as expected, didn’t fade or shrink in the wash and seem colorfast. The slash pockets are too shallow (guaranteed to have crap falling out of them) and the inseam length could be two inches shorter. Seem well assembled, but time will tell if the buttons stay in place. My cell phone fits securely in the the buttoned side pocket. I will probably buy again in various colors.
Hawaiian razor stubble –
My job now allows us to wear shorts, so I was scrambling to find some cargo shorts ASAP. Amazon Basics’ price and good reviews intrigued me, so I bought one pair for a trial.
It is a lightweight, 100% cotton material, so it breathes well and dries fairly quickly. I also like the metal zipper, which to me is better than plastic. I’m not sure if it’s YKK, but thus far it’s held up very well.
It uses a sewn-on main button, but it’s not a big deal, since it can be easily replaced with a jeans-style metal rivet should it ever break.
Others have negatively commented on the hard to reach, hard to use security buttons for the cargo and back pockets, but I don’t use them anyway, so for me it’s a non-issue. And besides, I’d much rather have buttons over hook-and-loop closures.
About the only knocks I have are:
1. It’s a little on the baggy side. I’d much rather have a slimmer fit.
2. The 10” inseam is a bit long for me. With my 5’5” height, coupled with my short legs, the cuff ends up, by midshift, past my knees, which makes kneeling a problem. And because the leg openings end up past my knees, it makes me look even shorter. Almost Hobbit-like, LOL
3. Back pockets are not deep enough to securely hold my wallet, so I’ve been storing it in one of the side pockets.
If Amazon Basics made this in a 9” length, with a slimmer fit, and used a polyester/cotton blend of 60/40, it would be much more durable and fade resistant.
Overall, despite some minor issues, I like these better than my Dickies in 11-inch length. Those I’ve had to have altered for a better fit. And the Dickies have a smaller zipper opening, which makes using the restroom a bit of a challenge.
Although I no longer use the Amazon Basics cargo shorts for work, they still serve admirably around the house. No longer will I have to settle for whatever I can find (cheaply) at garage sales or thrift stores.

These shorts are very comfortable. They are made of a nice material and fit well.
The pockets are well placed and can hold quite a bit when needed.
The botton hole could have been a little more generous but it worked.
I’ll buy this style again.

I ordered two pairs of the same size 38W in different colours but found the grey pair to be bigger in the waist than the Dark Khaki pair.

For the most part these shorts are pretty good. The fit was a little tight or I am a little fatter than I would I was. The side pockets are a little tight when buttoned. I like having one button open so I can get in the side pocket quickly but not all the way open so that things can fall out. They seem good for that. The button for the waist is out on with some kind of weak string which brings me back my fatness. A little pressure and this bad boy is hanging on for dear life. Overall the shorts are good and the colors are what you would expect. I would get more of these, maybe I shouldn’t try to squeeze into smaller sizes though.

Great cargo shorts and reasonable price. The have buttons on the back pocket which I don’t necessarily like but it can be a safety feature. The button on the front and the button on the back were both loose so we had to repair those. Other than that, great shorts.
