These little bites have made a difference in our furbabies everyday digestion issues. Our Bassett beagle has some gland smell that was not so great and he would drag his butt daily; even having his gland expressed didn’t help, but these do!
Lisa mommy of 2 cuties –
My 6 yo Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has always “scooted” off and on since she reached adulthood. I only ever had her glands expressed twice. Then earlier this summer I noticed some problems in the area (swelling, discharge, matted fur around the area). I couldn’t get into my vet (he’s so awesome, he’s booked out for weeks and he was in the hospital for two weeks from burns, poor guy) so I looked online on how to express her myself. I felt confident (we live in the country foothills of Northern California on a farm with chickens, goats and an emu) and I have done many medical procedures on my critter babies over the years. So I gave it a go…
She screamed, I cried, my son had to calm us both down. I tried to take her to the emergency vet, but because Cavaliers are so happy all the time, she sat in the waiting room and wagged her tail at everyone. They wouldn’t even triage her because they said she was so low on their list and didn’t seem in pain!! We sat for over an hour as I watched, among many other animals go in, an iguana with a closed eye, a parakeet with an odd feather and a chihuahua whose owner said couldn’t pee well (it peed twice in the waiting room just fine!). Had they actually had my dog stand up and looked at her like they were supposed to, she would have been taken in right then.
So I took her home and did some research. I found this product (the chews) and the most used methods to treat her condition (manage pain and antibiotics). I gave her my geriatric dog’s Tramadol and used Neosporin on her bottom. Don’t judge me; we pet parents do what is needed for our babies, plus I have a chemistry degree so I’m comfortable with dosing calculations. 🙂
My vet was still in the hospital, but I was able to get her in to another clinic (like my vet, they are so super awesome, unlike the emergency vet – I may have to write some Yelp reviews, too). 🙂 He put her on antibiotics like I knew he would (dang, I wish California allowed us to buy those for our pets OTC). And he said Tramadol was the right med and I dosed it correctly, but he gave her her own Rx in liquid form.
I bought the wipes along with the chews and everything came out fine (ha ha). She was so much better by two week follow-up that the doctor didn’t want to express her glands; he thought it would irritate them too much after the initial trauma, so he said to let her do it on her own and watch her and keep using the Glandex chews.
Even though she is small, she is a farm dog; not a typical lap dog. She chases squirrels and my chickens (naughty!) and tiny mouth-sized tennis balls in our pool. It has been over two months and I haven’t seen her scoot once. In fact, she seems to be feeling so good and has so much energy. I couldn’t be happier. I just ordered more. I hope it works for your pup, too.

I got this for my puppy since she was doing lots of scooting. She’ll occasionally still do that but nowhere near as much. The ingredients are good for her GI track and she must enjoy the flavor since she requests it after her breakfast.

My dogs were getting their glands expressed almost monthly. They’re on a raw diet and get pumpkin with each meal. My vet suggested we try Glandex. It’s been 4 months since their last gland expression.
We give it to them once a day. They line up like they’re getting a treat. They love the taste and have no idea they’re getting something healthy.
This works great for us.

So it’s not cured my boys issue but it’s definitely helped reduce the frequency of needing to empty his glands which of course he hates ( as do we !) it helps make him more comfortable which is all that matters

I have a four-year-old mini dachshund who started scooting about a year ago. We have had his glands expressed a handful of times, but I always feel bad for him because it’s uncomfortable and doing it too much can cause trauma to the area. I did some research and came across these. They really do work. Now, instead of needing his glands done every two months, he could go 3 to 4. Also, I saw that my vet’s office carries these. It makes me trust them even more.

We recently fostered/rehomed a friend’s 15-year-old Labrador/Great Pyrenees mix. First thing we noticed was how much his butt stunk. Seriously awful. We thought his new food might help. It did not. A friend recommended Glandex. AMAZING! After about a week, the smell was so much less. And now, after a month, pretty much gone.
For those who are wondering – Yes, we gave him a bath, sprayed his butt area, got everything back there clean. It didn’t help. The Glandex is amazing.

My sweet Ziggy used to have smelly glands and we would have to go to the vet or groomer to have his glands expressed – NO MORE!. Started his 1 chew daily about 2 months ago and just reordered because it has worked so great. In the past, every few days he would have smelly glands and sometimes discharge. We would go to the vet or groomer every few weeks to have his glands expressed. I am happy to say in the past 50 days, we have gone once about 2 weeks after he started his Glandex. Thank you so much!
Ziggy is a 13lb chihuahua

I started slow with half of the recommended daily dose and now I’m up to the recommended daily dose …so far so good… he does not mind the taste as I put it into his dog food bowl.
