US SIM cards come in 4 sizes (full, mini, micro and nano) which start biggish (full) and get progressively smaller (nano). This device requires a *micro* but I thought I only had a nano. A few hours worth of online and then phone tech suport, and then two AT&T stores worth of waiting for attention later, a smart customer service rep showed me that their SIM card thing (in the photo) can be used for mini, micro and nano. The SIM itself is nano but the other sizes can be popped out and used as a tray that the nano SIM fits into it, then into your (mini or micro) slot. I wish I had realized / known that (or that the Amazon tech support or AT&T help desk support line or the in-person rep at the first AT&T store had known that and told me). It would have saved me a big hassle.
So hopefully this review will save someone else the same hassle. The device seems otherwise fine. Takes a good minute to connect, but otherwise – totally fine.
Cheers.

After trying multiple 4g modems, I finally came across this one. I have an ATT sim card and this device (KuWiFi 4g modem) worked right out of the box, that means no customization needed. Just open the back, remove the battery, put in the sim card, place the battery and back on and then start it up.
It does allow customization if you need to like updating the APN (if necessary), changing your SSID and password, changing your broadcast channel, etc.
Overall, it works great.
My only issue is the battery life, which seems to last maybe 4 hours. Although you can charge it to full (the battery icon stops blinking), it never goes to the “full” battery icon. It also takes a good while to fully charge. I actually preferred if this didn’t come with battery but used a USB port for power.

I like the portability of this device and the speed but I know myself and others on Amazon have issues with connection drops and signal issues even with moderate signal strength well, I work as a network technician and I know the exact cause for the connection drops and issues. It all had to do with the modem chip in the device that is also known as a cellular signal receiver which has issues on the LTE network and I’m with Bell Mobility in a strong signal area and this boils down to the specific LTE portion of the modem chip and I manually switched to “3G” WCDMA only and it works so smooth although the speed is not as fast as LTE for obvious reasons but at least I have a solid connection with no drops on 3G only mode. And I just wanted to let others on Amazon know about this and the fix for the issue.

This device is small and convenient to fit in my bag. It takes a long time to charge. The charge last for the day depending on the use. I try to turn it off if I am out and about to save the charge. It sort of flaked on me and not charge but I used another cable and it charged. I am hoping it holds up. The price is reasonable but overall I have been using it for over a month and it is doing a good job. It gets hot at times I am not sure if it goes to sleep or has that option at times I think it just shuts off.

This product was very useful in Djibouti Africa. The connectivity was decent, the battery life was adequate, and I did have it get really warm with extended use but did exactly what it was supposed to do. I liked the display screen which was very useful in sunlight and in low light.

It was good while it last in the 9 months that I left it plugged into the charger next to my desk. Luckily it managed to work when I first inserted the T-Mobile prepaid SIM card which is sold for USA use. To keep track of my data usage as shown on the tiny screen, it took me many months to find out how to reset the counter to zero whenever I change to a new SIM.
Go to main menu, press bottom right corner “Reset” button. OR, press Router tab, then Reboot button. Shut down this router, replug and counter will show something like 3600 B, then gradually rise to MB and GB as you surf the web. If it doesn’t reset to something close to zero, repeat the Reset buton process as described.
To pay US$50 for 9 months use is pricey, so I have now moved to USB plug-in router which I got for US27. It has 4G but does not show LTE. However, although this KuwFi router displays LTE on the tiny screen, I still could not get any fast internet, very often sputtering when watching youtube movies, or just the CNN video news.
I was willing to pay US50 only because it was difficult to find such a router which run easily on USA T-Mobile SIM card without the hassle of tweaking other brands. That is because most routers in USA default to AT&T cards, and only some wiz nerds know how to tweak them to run other brand carrier SIM.
